Knoll's law of media accuracy says that people assume that the things we read in the news is true, except for things that we have first-hand knowledge of. Which suggests that there are other errors in things we don't know about.
The "law" doesn't suggest that _everything_ is incorrect but that it's worth remembering when reading any kind of writing/publication.

The Gell-Mann amnesia effect is similar wherein you read an article that you know has an error and then forget those inaccuracies when it comes to other stories.
