Another idea from [[Cortex (Podcast)]] talking about time tracking. We're currently working on [[ChronoRAT]] as an internal time tracking tool but I want to try tracking stuff outside work already. used to use [[Tyme]] but it's only macOS desktop and mobile, it doesn't have an API. I've started using [[Toggl]] and [[Timery]]. ![[toggl2025-02-14.png]] I'm interested in how you can have time entries that are Project + Tag. This may allow me to record work centers or themes within projects. For example am I logging general labor because I'm noodling on a project or because I'm in a meeting. Both of those fall into an overhead bin from an accounting perspective but I want to be able to look at what I've been doing. I can also add descriptions to events so maybe I have "Hermes" time charged but I'm noting which tickets I'm working on or the aspect of the software I'm noodling about. So far I don't hate the Toggl web interface but I get the appeal of Timery for switching on the go for high level items. If I'm working at my desk it's not difficult to add the information I want via the web tool but if I'm away from my desk I can envision wanting the quick switch capabilities and for personal stuff where I just want to track rough buckets. ## Pain Points - Timery doesn't seem to update lock screen components well. If I stop one timer and start another from the desktop, the mobile app doesn't catch it until I open up the app.
